John Ziegler is a Dumbass

I heard that about "50 people" attended the Fire David Letterman protest, but that 35 of them were with the media. My simple math tells me that 15 people attended the ceremony.

Nice.

Power to the people.

Or should I say, "sheeple?"

I've never heard of the idiots who organized this thing; I expect I'll never hear of them again. Apparently, one of the organizers bolted from the scene in a cab when he realized there was nothing there. Almost nobody showed up.

But I did hear some audio from the event. You had the typical idiots spouting off crap about Letterman (you know, he's a perv) along with some bitch talking about how he rapes people with his mouth!

Wow. Maybe Carlin or Bruce or Pryor or Schimmel. But not Dave. He may harp on you hard, but he certainly does not have a filthy mouth. At least in public. He's controlled by the FCC for goshsakes.

Idiots!
But the governor's acceptance didn't stop several dozen protesters from gathering outside New York's Ed Sullivan Theater, where "Late Show" is taped. The event was organized by the group FireDavidLetterman.com.

"We don't believe there's been any accountability at all here," said John Ziegler, a libertarian (code word for "idiot?") Los Angeles talk radio host who is serving as a spokesperson for the group. "We believe he's benefited from this."

No, dumbass, what he's benefited from is YOUR amplification of the episode. Refer to previous posts where other comedians told jokes about Palin...where was your outrage then? This whole thing wouldn't be a thing if not for you and your miscreant cohorts.

Where Was the Outrage When Conan O'Brien Made Gang Rape Joke About Palin's Daughters?

Conan O'Brien said this:
On October 8, 2008, Sarah Palin walked out on the ice with six year old Piper and 13 year old Willow, before the game, Conan O'Brien said, "Saturday night, Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers' hockey game. Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter's penalty box."
Where was the outrage then? Conan's joke clearly was aimed at Piper (6 at the time) and Willow (13 at the time), IF Dave's joke was targeted at Willow (at the game = the butt of the joke).

For God's sake, Piper was 6! And we're not talking rape, here, we're talking gang rape amongst 20 and 30-somethings on a 6 year old!

Outrage? I didn't hear any...Maybe the Palin's TV was broken. Their phone was turned off. The paper boy forgot to deliver their newspaper...

Where was the outrage?

Underage daughter getting knocked up by John Edwards (that's the implication). Maybe the Palins are too stupid to make inferences.

Fire David Letterman Squidoo Lens

When you're up against a juggernaut, you learn to embrace small victories - I just snatched the title, Fire David Letterman, on Squidoo.

Read my (Don't) Fire David Letterman Squidoo lens now. Show your support. This could backfire on me (and on Dave), of course, but there are two things about this story:

  1. I am a HUGE David Letterman fan, and
  2. I hate Sarah Palin and everything she stands for!
Thank our creator that she didn't become second in line when John McCain keeled over from the stress of being President!

David Letterman Will Be Fired Today

As you know, if you've been here once, I'm a HUGE David Letterman fan. He's simply the best late night talk show host EVER (yes, better than his idol, Johnny Carson, whom I also loved).

But the flap over Sarah Palin is getting out of hand. There's a group that's been formed that is calling for Dave Letterman to be fired. (Can you guess the URL? I'm not giving it out here but it's of the format, "Fire [insert host name here].com")

Les Moonves and Dave have a love-hate relationship. Dave pokes fun at CBS all the time. I'm sure Les doesn't like it.

Today, it's common for people to be fired for what they say, even if what they say is what they're paid for. But it will come down to how much flak CBS gets over this: Just follow the vanishing money.

If advertisers leave the Letterman show, you can be sure that CBS will leave Letterman. Fired.

It's a shame, too. The joke that has the rightwingnuts ruffled is certainly no worse than thanking a murderer for killing a doctor. Wait, I take that back. It's WAY worse.

We hurt somebody's feelings (by the way, this is a bimbo who's proud of her public persona of being a pitbull with lipstick), which is way worse than just killing them.

I think Barack Obama ought to get Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, and all those other puppets of the idiots masquarading as conservatives FIRED, too. After all, they've called him a socialist, and that's way worse than saying somebody got knocked up. That is, if you're an American! Like these impostors like to portray themselves.

You can read how I really feel here.

Sarah Palin is the Biggest Bitch on the Planet and She's a Pedophile Too

I hated her when she ran for VP (no qualifications, other than being a bitch, like Cheney), and I hate her even more now. Yes, I'll admit, she's somewhat HOT on occasion, but bitches usually are (they know they can get away with it).

(Here's a short list of all my posts about how I love hate her so.)
I'll also admit that I'm a HUGE David Letterman fan. I grew up watching Dave. He's simply the funniest and BEST late night talk show host ever.

But I digress. Did Dave cross a line when he made a joke about Alex Rodriguez knocking up Palin's daughter? I don't think so.

Here's the quote:
One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.
...I would say that you and anybody else are extremely naive to
believe that very convenient excuse of David Letterman's the other day.
Sarah Palin made the choice to enter the national spotlight. If she thought that her family was off-limits, then she's the naive one.

Sorry, Sarah, you're an idiot. It's so convenient for you to make the barbs, but you get all hormonal when somebody else does.

How's this for taking a joke and making it worse?
In a sharply worded response to the off-color remarks, a Palin spokesperson said earlier this week that "it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman," a veiled suggestion that he couldn't be trusted around teen girls.

Asked Friday to explain the statement, Palin dug her claws in.

"Hey, take it however you want to take it," she shot back. "It is a comment that came from the heart that Willow, no doubt, would want to stay away from David Letterman after he made such a comment. And you can interpret that however you want to interpret it."
Really? David Letterman is a pedophile because he made a joke about the morals of your family? I think you're the pedophile, Sarah Palin. You let your daughter get pregnant, probably in your own house, before she was mature enough to be a mom. And you probably wouldn't let her have an abortion or put the child up for adoption. Some might say you are an accomplice of a sex crime.

Possible Landslide for Barack Obama?

First things first, what is a landslide? Of course, the prognosticators are referring to the Electoral College vote, not the popular vote. One popular pollster, who actually uses some very detailed and complex mathematics and statistics, and who's been EXTREMELY accurate in predicting outcomes of elections and primaries, is FiveThirtyEight.com, who has the following prediction up right now:

Capturing 65 percent of the College's votes is pretty impressive, leading to a 30 point victory. That's HUGE. But Obama is projected to win by 6-8 percent with regard to the popular vote. So let's not call this a blow-out. Let's not even call it a win for Obama just yet. Stranger things have -- and will again -- happened.
Have you voted? Have you seen any unusual polling procedures? Voting machines working okay? I'm a "permanent vote by mail" voter, which means I'm supposed to get my ballot in the mail, fill it out, and mail it in. Only I got mine on Saturday, not giving me, or the Post Office, enough time to get it to my polling place in time. So, I'll have to go drop it off tonight after work.
I hope I don't have to stand in line to drop it off! That would REALLY defeat the entire purpose, wouldn't it?
Oh, by the way, I had to call the county election office 3 times to get my ballot.
Government works. Just not very well or expeditiously.
Remember, vote early, vote often.

One Week Out, Election 2008

You may be able to tell by my previous posts that I like Barack Obama and despise John McCain. Oh, as people, they're probably both okay. But from a presidential perspective, there's really only one choice. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of questions I have about Obama, first among them is "How do you propose to do all of this without spending us into debt from which we can never recover?"

That is to say, if President Bush hadn't beaten him to the punch (under President Bush, the national debt has doubled, from $5 trillion and trending down, to over $10 trillion and decidedly never trending down again).

I heard some nitwit on TV today saying that none of our enemies was afraid of Barack Obama and that all of them were afraid of John McCain. First, tell me how this matters? Second, the problem is that all of our allies are afraid of John McCain, too! Thanks to my wife for that insight.

I've spoken with quite a few of my friends who have always voted Republican and they're voting for Barack. Or at least they say they are (google Bradley effect). It's not so much that they're impressed with Obama as they are depressed about McCain's ineptitude. I hear that the McCain camp is already looking for ways to blame Sarah Palin for the loss. Funny how that works -- they picked her!

Though I find her increasingly reprehensible, not to mention annoying with that stupid accent, I think she added to the Republican presidential ticket. That's really not saying much, though. It really shows just how far in the hole the started.

It's somewhat astonishing to me how poorly the Republicans have run this campaign. And it's mind-blowingly amazing that the Democrats haven't found a way to lose.

But there's still time! A lot can happen in a week (+). Obama's lead is somewhat protected because of early voting, however. A lot of folks have already voted and no matter what happens in the next week or so, nothing can change their vote.

I certainly hope I'm wrong about my apprehension about Barrack Obama. I, too, hope I'm wrong about my prediction on another web site about Obama's 8 percent handicap because he's black (I don't think he's inferior at all; but a lot of Americans do). Barack Obama gives me the same sort of feelings I had when I was a youngster and fell in political love with Ronald Reagan. Reagan gave a young man a reason to feel proud about his country, that he could in fact accomplish anything he set out to do, and that America's fortune was about to turn the corner.

I feel those same things now (but only if Barack Obama wins). I'd like to see a landslide.

The thing that concerns me most about all of this, though, is the fact that Congress will become over-run by liberal spend-thrifts (again, not like the Republican-controlled Congress was any better) like Nancy Pelosi and Tin Man Harry Reid. I don't think I could ever fully express my utter displeasure with those two inept idiots. My only hope is that Obama leads the country in the right direction, unlike "Wrong Way W."

Miscellaneous Ramblings on VP Debate (Biden and Palin)

A few words on the VP debate held last night. First, and least importantly, the candidates looked fabulous.

Now, it's all downhill from here. I've heard both the "left" and "right" talking about who won, who did best, who cleared the bar, where the bar was, etc.

Poppycock.

First off, Sarah Palin did better than I thought she would. She obviously studied. And it showed. This is both good and bad. Good because she didn't get crushed by the Biden intellectual juggernaut. Bad because, well, it looked like she was regurgitating a high school lesson.

Second, Palin came across as condescending. To you, it may have appeared as cool, witty, hip, or something positive, but, for me, she came across as if she thought she was better than Biden.

Sarah Palin and Joe Biden debateThird, WTF? The debate started at 8pm, St Louis local time (Central) and lasted for at least 90 minutes (seemed like days). Her family brought her "challenged" baby up. Sure, she he (thanks, Kristen!) was asleep, but why was a baby out at 10pm?

How many "hockey moms" would have their babies out that late at night? Maybe I was just seeing things.

Fourth, WTFsquared! Palin gave a "shout out" to god-only-remembers! This was not a rap performance, nor was it a cheerleading competition! OMG, have we sunk so low that this sort of crap not only is acceptably presidential, but it also resonates with the voting public?

That was too much for me.

But the thing that really got me was her insistence on ignoring every question and turning it into "what I did as mayor, governor, and regulator" or "energy" or "maverick." By my unofficial count, Palin answered one question.

This automatically gets her an "F." Of course, only my opinion. Give me a "shout out" or a "kiss my ass" in the Comments :)

I don't care how great your dissertation is on why the sky is blue if in fact the question was a word problem that started out familiarly: If a train leaves Chicago at 10am...you didn't answer the gosh-darned question!!!

Now, on to Biden. He didn't pounce. He should have cleaned her clock. I thought his breakup when he was talking about being a single dad was touching. It didn't even look scripted, though nowadays, I am so skeptical that it's always the first thing I think.

Finally, Biden's BS about frequenting Home Depot was baloney. He might get out and about (it's well-known and agreed that he rides the Amtrack into and out of DC), but I doubt he does a lot of home improvements. And that's okay with me, just don't try to be Tim "the Toolman" Taylor!

Still Feeling Good About the McCain Palin Ticket?

McCain made a wise choice in picking Sarah Palin. After all, half the population is women, so it makes sense that he try to appeal to the other half. You know, the half that doesn't like him.

Unfortunately, it seems that the people who most like her already liked him. So maybe he didn't get the boost he thought he should. Perhaps his blood pressure hasn't declined from the heights it's reached. He's old. He has health issues. He'll die one day. And according to actuarial tables, he'll die sooner than Obama (that is, if some redneck doesn't get ahold of Obama first).

Here's a fun video about McCain's health.

Enjoy knowing that Sarah Palin, former beauty queen, will be the next most powerful man on the planet. I'd not only like to know he's of sound health and mind (fat chance on that), but also Obama's, Biden's, and Palin's. I think it's a standard operating procedure, isn't it, that at least the presidential nominee assures the public that they're getting a product that isn't defective or already worn out?

I'd be pissed if I voted for somebody who died a few months later. I'd want my damn vote back.

More on Sarah Palin and Her Readiness to be President

I've been reading Andrew Tobias - Money and Other Subjects
for years. I respect him and while I go there for the personal finance advice and information, he is the Democratic Party's Treasurer. So, he knows what he's talking about, if not more than a little biased. He says:
I don’t blame Governor Palin. She didn’t represent herself to John McCain – I assume – as anything but what she is. It was he who concluded that “she knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America.” Straight talk from a fine judge of talent. Can’t wait to see who he picks to run FEMA.

Senator McCain acknowledges that economics is not his strong suit (he’s reading Alan Greenspan’s book) and Governor Palin says she got a D in macroeconomics from one of the six colleges she went to on her road to an undergraduate degree.

I am not mocking her – and I’m certainly not calling her stupid. I am mocking the notion that she is qualified to be President. Which it seems to me is a baseline qualification for being Vice President.
I couldn't agree more.

Beauty and the Beast

Republican ticket: Beauty and the Beast
This picture pretty much sums up the Republican ticket.

I wonder when they'll let the Beauty speak without cue cards and pre-answered questions?

I'm not suggesting she's dumb, but I am suggesting that the campaign is afraid she'll say something that won't play right. Like abortion in cases of rape is still killing babies. Or "I was for the bridge before I was against it!" We all know how that played out last time for John Kerry.

It's my opinion, too, that she obviously didn't know what the Bush doctrine is, but who does? Does Bush even know what it means? Probably not. Oh, he knows about pre-emption, but he most likely didn't know what it meant, either. After all, the dude didn't know what sovereign meant.

And that's okay. We Americans seem to want dumb people running our country. It makes us feel better about ourselves, kind of like why we watch Jerry Springer and Nancy Grace.

9/11 and Apologizing to Pigs

Here are excerpts from Andrew Tobias about the Republicans wanting an apology from Obama for his stating the obvious and about 9/11:
APOLOGY

They want an apology for using the word lipstick?
  • How about an apology for what they’ve done to this country these last eight years?
  • They’ve cut the value of the dollar nearly in half.
  • They’ve borrowed $4 trillion from our kids to give tax cuts to billionaires.
  • They’ve sent thousands of our kids to die invading the wrong country.
  • They’ve diminished our standing in the world.
  • They’ve done nothing on health care.
  • They’ve held back stem cell research.
  • They’ve fought against worker protections and against benefits for returning veterans.
  • They’ve installed corporate lobbyists as regulators. (Their Interior Department, we learned on last night’s news, was literally in bed with the oil industry.)
  • They’ve dug us into a deep, deep hole.
And they want an apology? The only thing more ridiculous than their wanting an apology from us is their wanting four more years.
AND YES . . .

I do remember what day this is – and our great friend, Rob Deraney, whom we lost that day. (It was actually Rob who introduced Charles and me.) But the best way to honor the memory of those we lost is not, as former Mayor Rudy Gu911iani recently did, mock community organizers – the same mayor who insisted on putting the City's emergency control center in the World Trade Center – but rather to help get our great country back on track.
FU, John McCain and Miss Piggy. Go screw yourself Rudy.

BREAKING NEWS: John McCain Has Put Lipstick on a Pitbull

The brouhaha that's come about from Barack Obama using the time-honored phrase of "lipstick on a pig" while referring to John McCain's horrible policy proposals (you pick it: economics, healthcare, war, national security, they're all the same -- bad -- and while I'm at it I'm not suggesting that I agree with Obama's policies entirely) is utterly ridiculous (there, I called Sarah Palin a cow).

John McCain has used the phrase before when talking about Hillary Clinton's healthcare plan. Was he calling Clinton a pig?

He's also used the words horse, shit, and -- no doubt -- nigger.

Was he talking about Barack Obama?

This is utterly ridiculous. See what I did there? I called VP nominee (aka the Barracuda, Pitbull, MILF, hockey mom, two lips) Sarah Palin a cow again.

But let's give the McCain crybabies the benefit of the doubt. Let's say Barack was calling Palin a pig, rather than a pitbull.
  • Pitbulls kill babies
  • Pigs make mighty fine bacon and yummy hams.
She'd rather be called a baby killer than a scrumptious breakfast food? That doesn't sound quite right, does it? Sounds like what Republicans call Democrats.

And now the "liberal media" is harping on this "gaffe" incessantly. And it's all because Palin's a chick. Big deal. I'm sure she's been called worse: Whore, warmonger, spend-thrift, bitch, and catty.

She's a big girl. And let's not forget: She was chosen because she's a woman. Is that not bigotry? It's as if the Republicans forgot all about their argument against affirmative action when they chose a skirt for the 2nd most powerful position on the planet.

Ask yourself this: Who would you feel safer with? Joe Biden or Sarah Palin as president if the acting president died or became incapacitated?

I know where I stand? Do you?

Notes on Sarah Palin

I was watching Sarah Palin's speech on my DVR (I don't like watching these things live because I don't want to get caught up in the euphoria or foaming at the mouth), and the coverage I had recorded (PBS, a lot less on either side than MSNBC and Fox News) kept showing her family (undoubtedly, the other networks were doing this more -- I've watched enough of these to know this).

The thought that kept going through my mind was how much her family looked like the one depicted on the right.

My god, she has a lot of kids; they span from a baby to a 19 year old, who may have been conceived out of wedlock, just like her soon-to-be-born grandchild. But it's all cool because he enlisted in the military on 9/11/2007 and is being deployed on 9/11/2008.

How sweet. And convenient. And contrived.

Day 1 of the Republican National Convention

Just like the Democratic National Convention, I watched some of the festivities. For example, I watched our current president gush over John McCain and his POW experience. This, after using the dirty tactics he used in 2000 against McCain, planting the seed that McCain had an affair with a black woman.

I also saw Fred Flintstone Thompson talk endlessly about McBain's war heroism. OMFG, they need to STOP with the POW crap! It drives me crazy. The man's biggest accomplishment was by being a total failure. He got shot down. He lived. Big deal.

It's not like he survived cancer. (Yeah, I know he did. But it was skin cancer. Again, big deal.)

Rudy was supposed to speak, but he either didn't or I missed him and his big ass-mouth. I'm sure he threw in some heroic deeds of his own, about how he saved the city of New York from Osama bin Laden, or how his top cop was a one-time consideration for DHS head.

It seems all the Republicans have left is the military. I'm afraid if they lose this one, they'll order the armed services to enforce martial law; it's their only chance at retaining control.

The more I hear about Miss Alaska Runner-up, the less I like her. She'd better do that Playboy spread soon (Penthouse seems more her style, but I digress). All the McBoners with Viagra need some eye-lovin'. I did see some footage of McCain's introduction of Palin as his running mate (or is it, as the Daily Show surmised, his future 3rd wife); all he could do was stare at her ass. I'm not sure what body she has left after having 5 kids, one just this year at age 44, but apparently her ass is better than that beer-fed Skeletor he's shackin' up with.

If this post seems a little sour on the Repugnicans, I don't apologize. I still hurt from the jilting I got in 2001, when the neo-cons took over my party. Everything, and I mean everything, they supposedly stand for, they really don't. Here's a short list:
  • Family values
  • Morals
  • State's rights
  • Country first
  • Fiscally responsible
  • Let the market decide
  • Stay out of people's lives
  • Lower taxes
I don't know about you, but on each of these topics, I was better off under President Clinton, and I hated that dude. If asked, "Am I better off today than 8 years ago?" I'd have to say yes, but only because I got lucky and made some good decisions. This government certainly did nothing for me. And for that, I'm casting my ballot for Barack Obama.

I'll watch McSame's speech, and I really can't wait for Palin's, but they've got no chance of winning me over.

Surge? You think the surge worked, man? What worked is we spent way more money than they did and we waited it out. By that logic, we'd have won Vietnam by 1980. But there would have been a downside: Rambo would have never been written and Ronald Reagan never would have been president. Besides, the only country Reagan invaded, he won in like 24 hours.

Read more about McCain here.

More tomorrow.

McCain Picks a Chick!

John McCain has gone completely nuts. He picked a girl. From Alaska (you know, the land of Ted Stevens and the Internet is a series of tubes).

I don't know her, nor do I know her positions, but I'm sure most would like to see her in this position.

I don't know about you, but she looks pretty hot. Which is unusual for a person to be in a state as cold as Alaska.

More to come after vacation, when I'll really do some research and find out more about her. She's already better than McSame, though.

McCain Ad to Steal Obama's Thunder

UPDATE: McCain Picks a Chick!

CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time - Blogs from CNN.com
John McCain will directly address rival Barack Obama Thursday night, in an ad the Arizona senator's campaign is calling "exciting and unprecedented."
Oh, I can't wait to see what shoddy accusations they have up their sleeves.

"Did you know? Obama is black."
"Have you heard? Obama is a Muslim."
"Obama will raise your taxes."
"Obama sympathizes with terrorists."

Poppycock.
