"Most Serverely Wounded" soldier's family hopes to cope, help
'Most severely wounded' soldier endures: blind, quadriplegic, struggling to breathe - International Herald Tribune
This story will fail to move only the evil. It's a sad story about a soldier, shot in the back of the head at point-blank range, at 20 years old. Now, he's 24, living at home, if you can call his plight living.
He cannot eat or breathe on his own, is paralyzed from the neck down, cannot speak.
All because George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld wanted to wage war against an illusory enemy.
My god, this war sucks.
There are many sad things about this story. Jay's injuries. His parents' caring and coping with him.
But to me, the saddest part is that there are many more "Jays" out there who've lost their lives, either by death or incapacity --
A-L-L F-O-R N-O-T-H-I-N-G
I hate this f--cking war and everybody who wanted it, supports it, and continues to praise our President's "fortitude" in pursuing it to its "end."
I'm going to go cry somewhere now.

Republicans and Cannibalism: 2008 Presential race IS ON!
Arizona Senator John McCain has thrown a grenade over the bow, aimed directly at Donald Rumsfeld, and indirectly at President Bush. He's said that Rumsfeld will go down as the worst Secretary of Defense in history.
This, after mis-managing the Iraq war, which I thought was being managed by George Bush, as he's been known to call himself the War President and is undoubtedly the Commander in Chief (it says so in the US Constitution).

Pentagon sure Iraq surge will fail, plans for worst
Too bad the idiots who run the Pentagon didn't plan for the worst from the beginning. Everybody knows that you hope for the best, plan for the worst...in war, business, life, and death.
Except our government. Things are always rosy. Unless it's a social program. Then it's dire straits.
Bush and his cronies are nothing if not stupid. Dick Cheney is the anti-Christ. Donald Rumsfeld is the Devil. George Bush is the Village Idiot.

The *REAL* War Games -- and we lost
Way back in 2002, the US held war games with fictional (read: Iraq) countries. We lost. So we did the prudent thing: We went to *REAL* war with factual countries (one of which was Iraq).
Nothing like doing a simulation and then discarding the findings to battle with a real opponent.
The Bush administration looks more incompetent (read: Stupid) every day, in every way.

Rumsfeld out, humane treatment in?

Not more than a few minutes after soon-to-be House Speaker Pelosi called for civilian defense department leadership to step down, Donald Rumsfeld stepped down. I wonder if it was by choice?
Now that Rummy's out, can we count on some real progress in Iraq? I doubt it, but I hope I'm wrong.
We need to get on our knees and beg the UN to bail us out of this mess. I am sure that Bush can do this. He really does want a legacy that doesn't include multiple instances of failure in it. This would be one small step for a man, one great step for mankind.

Bush asks for "do over"
President Bush has asked for a "do over" on his call to keep Rumsfeld and Cheney on board, even though they have proven to be more like boat anchors than engines.

Rumsfeld to keep his job for next 30 years

Sorry, I'm a little late in reporting this, but, after all, this really isn't news, is it? Bush hasn't fired anybody bad. In fact, has he fired anybody?

Rep Murtha calls for immediate resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld
Jack Murtha lays out in his resolution a scathing laundry list of all of Donald Rumsfeld's failures, including not committing enough ground troops, not planning for the aftermath of the war, and failing to get the troops the gear they needed to defend themselves, like body armor, armorized Hum-vees, and training. Besides all that, Murtha accused Rumsfeld of being over-optimistic about the role Iraq oil would play in the war as well as the duration of the war.
I hope Murtha gets what he's after. Rumsfeld, if he were a CEO, would have been fired by now, even if it's not all his fault, directly.
