OMG: Bush to appoint Chertoff to run Justice?

Think Progress » CNN: Bush Plans To Install Inexperienced, Bush Loyalist Clay Johnson At Homeland Security

Attorney General "Alberto" Gonzales' resignation prompts speculation about who will take over his post. Michael Chertoff is at the top of the list. Scary.

The silver lining is that DHS head Michael Chertoff is more qualified to run the DOJ than the DHS. The cloud is that he's not qualified to head up anything, except his head up Bush's backside.

Add another Bush loyalist to the steaming heap of shit we call the American government:
Asked about his relationship to Bush, Johnson told the New York Times recently that “there’s a lot of devotion to George Bush the person.” Johnson, who “is probably the only person to have spanked” the president’s dog, Barney, “keeps a George Bush doll on his desk.”
Clay Johnson attended both prep school (I think that is high-priced high school) and college with President Monkey. Can't ever trust a guy named named after sculpting material.

Well, hotdog, Alberto Gonzales quit. I wonder why...let me count the felonies

US Attorney General Gonzales resigns - Yahoo! News

More on the scoundrel who called himself "Alberto."
It has been one of my greatest privileges to lead the Department of Justice," Gonzales said, announcing his resignation effective Sept. 17 in a terse statement. He took no questions and gave no reason for stepping down.
Maybe it was the US attorney scandal. Or the warrantless wiretapping. Or the waterboarding. Or the "quaint" provisions of the Geneva Conventions. Could have been anything. Dipshit wouldn't tell us why. I'd say all of the above.

And MORE. The frightening thing, history will show us, is what we don't know. You think all of the above was bad? Wait til you find out what we don't know.

I bet the guy moves to South America and spends the rest of his life with his idol, Adolf Hitler.

Justice Department screened all job prospects for political affiliations

Don King used to say, "Only in America." Not sure this is the case anymore for virtually anything. I used to think that our electoral system couldn't be rigged, our politicians, while perhaps for sale would not sell out their country, and our president had to be smart.

I guess with age comes cynicism?

Alberto Gonzales subpoenaed for Rove emails

This is getting really good now. Apparently some of those "lost" emails of Rove's had been found earlier by Patrick Fitzgerald. Interesting that they cannot find some of those same emails now...I wonder why?

More Justice Department shenanigans

Just what does "Alberto" Gonzales do? Does he do anything, or at least anything not stupid and/or deceitful?

Here's a great case of the BS he has pulled. He allows one federal attorney to NOT do his main job 27 days out of the month, while he fires another for doing his job 27 days a month. Plus, this attorney was spending his "non work time" serving in the military (a job he had to do).
"It's a curious contrast that leaders in the Department of Justice would slip a change into law to allow one U.S. Attorney to spend only a few days a month in his district and keep his job, while at the same time claiming to fire another for spending a few days a month away from his district to serve his country," Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) said in a statement.

"Alberto" Gonzales is one cocky SOB

Or he's just the most complete imbecile ever? I love this quote:

I now understand that there was a conversation between myself and the president.
Um, how could he not have "understood" this earlier? He, presumably, was THERE! After all, it was a conversation between himself and the president.

Wouldn't it have been more accurate to have said, "Now I remember that I had a conversation with the president" rather than to have said what he said?

Aren't lawyers supposed to be very careful about the language they use? Did something get lost in translation between Gonzales' brain and his mouth? We know that the president has been infected with this malady. Should the American public be concerned that a horrible disease is spreading in our capital?

"Alberto" Gonzales? It wasn't me

AG Gonzales has his feet put to the fire in Senate hearing on his role in firing 8 federal prosecutors.

Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania Senator, said of Gonzales' recollection of his part in the dismissals:
"significantly if not totally at variance with the facts"
This, in case you cannot decipher Senate-speak, is other words for "lying."

I have this fantasy of becoming a Senator or Representative and grilling these empty suits with terse questions and then blasting them for not answering them.

"Mr Gonzales, you are either lying or your stupid. Which one is it?"

"Alberto" Gonzales stands by decision to fire US Attorneys

He says the firings were justified, but he doesn't know why because he wasn't involved.

Sounds like faith-based logic to me. "I have never seen or spoken with God, but I know He exists."

That kind of reasoning is only appropriate to religion though. The rest of the world has to stick to facts. Sorry, "Alberto."

UPDATED: Oh boy, White House at it again -- "Countless" emails purged, gone forever

UPDATE: The more I think about this, the more I get pissed off about it. Bush can look at my emails but I can't look at his? Is this the epitome of hypocrisy? I'm thinking there's a way to force the government into "finding" all those "lost" emails.

Are you still doubting that the Bush administration has something to hide? Still skeptical about the skeptics? How 'bout this one:

Let's delete thousands of emails and see if anybody notices. Let's get rid of the evidence before Congress can investigate us.

It's high time the Justice Administration investigate the White House. Bring in some computer forensics experts and bring all those "lost" emails back.

Oh, wait a minute! The Justice Department is not independent of the White House! In fact, it's the Justice Department that is under investigation!! In fact, Bush and his buddy, "Alberto" Gonzales are figuratively, if not actually, in bed together on many a scandal.

What the hell was I thinking? Justice Department should investigate...(shaking my head in disgust at my own naiveté).

US Attorney General "Alberto" Gonzales will not step down

In spite of recent evidence that Alberto Gonzales is a complete moron, he has denounced calls for his resignation, in the best Bush Administration fashion. Will he join the ranks of "Heckuva Job" Brown and Rummy or will he survive like Dick Cheney?

There apparently is some noise being made in DC about the firings of federal prosecutors. Gonzales acknowledges that mistakes have been made and that he, and his Justice Department, will learn from them.

But that is not the big news where Alberto is concerned. No, it's the other issue out there about how the FBI, housed in its enclave in the very same Justice Department, broke the law. It has spied on people, used surveillance illegally, and has broken other provisions of the so-called Patriot Act.

Here's the deal: I think this flap over the prosecutor firings is cover for the FBI story. What do you think?
