R.I.P. San Jose Sharks

Yes, I know the San Jose Sharks are only down 2-1 in their Round 1 Stanley Cup playoffs with the Calgary Flames, but I think the Flames sucked the life out of them yesterday.

For those of you who don't know (and care), the Sharks went up 3-0 in the first 4 minutes or so. Then sat on their haunches for the next 56 minutes and lost the game.

They also lost their courage.

The Flames hit the Sharks every chance they got. The Sharks did nothing. They should have just dropped the gloves and pummeled the Flames. But I think they were afraid. What other reason for letting their Captain, Patrick Marleau, get hammered by not one, but two, hellacious hits? They're soft. They suck. They have no courage.

I blame most of that on the coach, Ron Wilson. He's so damned passive, it's pathetic. Last year, he wanted to go golfing more than he wanted to win the Stanley Cup. What's his excuse this year? Yesterday was a beautiful day, perhaps he longed for another 18 holes.

No matter. He seems to be there for good. Too bad for the Bay Area. Also-rans forever. All talent, no heart.

Goodbye San Jose Sharks. Rest in peace. I will never love you again.
