On October 8, 2008, Sarah Palin walked out on the ice with six year old Piper and 13 year old Willow, before the game, Conan O'Brien said, "Saturday night, Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers' hockey game. Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter's penalty box."Where was the outrage then? Conan's joke clearly was aimed at Piper (6 at the time) and Willow (13 at the time), IF Dave's joke was targeted at Willow (at the game = the butt of the joke).

Let's hope this is the end of the David Letterman - Sarah Palin feud. While last week Letterman apologized, it was in a snarky sort of way, and wasn't accepted by Palin...

Oh, I'll answer my own question - Dave in the past few years has come out against the right wingers. He's had Bill O'Reilly on the show and tells him what he thinks of Bush, Cheney, war, torture, etc.
He's also made a lot of jokes about Bush and Cheney, plus McCain and what's her name, I already forgot...
He's the ONLY one they target because he's the ONLY one to call them to the carpet.
However, if you watched his show, you'd see that he caps on everybody: He's equal-opportunity, all the way. It's just that for the prior 8 years, the right held the power. Now they don't.
And they're trying desperately to get it back. But they're like the kid on the playground: It's my ball and I'm taking it home!
